Information for Members and Prospective Members of NSA CT

NSA-CT, officially recognized as a Chapter of the National Speakers Association in July 2003, is an organization which provides resources and education to advance the skills, integrity and value of its members and the speaking profession. The following details some of the information we have decided upon to date:

Meeting Types and Locations

• Regular Meetings will be held at The Norwalk Town Hall. Our regular meetings will be exciting networking and learning events where seasoned speakers, mostly highly regarded and valued members of NSA , will be invited to speak for us. You will be exposed to the diverse styles and messages of many wonderful speakers. All meetings take place from 6:00 – 9:00p.m.
• Our Summer Networking Meeting is usually held in August at a restaurant or banquet facility in the Central CT region. This event usually includes a meal and provides us with a relaxed, casual networking atmosphere. There is an additional cost for this meeting, with members paying less than non-members.

2008-2009 Level of Dues

Members

Professional members in the National Speakers Association.

Dues:

• $125 If joining in Sept. through Dec.
• $100 If joining in Jan., Feb. or March
• $50   If joining in April, May or June

Benefits:

1. attendance at all regular meetings for free
2. eligible to vote & hold a seat on the Board
3. discounted price to special events
4. eligible for NSA scholarship
5. listing on the NSA-CT website’s speaker directory

Associates

Individuals who are working toward Professional status in the National Speakers Association.

Dues:

• $125  If joining in Sept. through Dec.
• $100 If joining in Jan., Feb. or March
• $50   If joining in April, May or June

Benefits:

1. attendance at all regular meetings for free
2. eligible to be a NSA-CT committee member

Not eligible for the following:

1. To vote
2. To hold a seat on the Board
3. A listing on the NSA-CT website’s speaker directory

Guests

Interested individuals who express an interest in learning more about the speaking profession, but are not pursuing membership in NSA.

Fee

• $25 for regular meetings; special meetings open to guests at the current guest rate

Member Designations

• Certified Speaking Professional (CSP)
  This designation signifies achievement through a proven record of speaking experience; including a minimum number of fee-paid presentations, continuing education credits and consecutive years of professional speaking experience.
• Professional Member
  NSA members who have proven they have earned $25,000 or have had 20 paid speaking engagements in one year.
• Bureau/Supplier
  A supplier of services, materials, or equipment to professional speakers.
